Look at the following solved puzzle – I did it myself, this morning.

Well I know that if you know anything about Suduko, you will know that that is not right. Imay have every digit- 1-9 in every row and column, but for it to be a proper Sudoku, every 3 x 3 block must also have all the digits in them.
If I was doing this in a computer game that highlights the errors in red, it would look like this:

38 out of 81 red numbers. Well I am not really that stupid, I know that this is not a proper Sudoku, in fact, I did it on purpose, as I am trying to invent a new game. What i have done is taken an actual Suduko, from a newspaper, written down the columns in the right order, but NOT NECESSARILY in the right order, so that the rows and blocks are scrambled. Can anyone solve this puzzle with only the information provided? I noticed when I did the “error” finding exercise above that only the number 5 never turned Red – could that help? I don’t know, let me know. However this puzzle needs three “scrambled sudokus” to work it out. There is the one I did above –which is where the columns are right but the blocks and rows are wrong. Obviously we need another one where the rows are right but the columns and blocks are wrong, and then one where the blocks are right but the columns and rows are all wrong.
I will put all three scrambled sudokus into the next post for people to try and unscramble the scrambled Sudoku. I’d be very interested to hear what strategies you employ to solve this puzzle.
